A 22-year-old woman in Indonesia lost her life after falling from a treadmill through the window of a third-story high-rise gym in Pontianak, West Kalimantan. A video of the tragic incident went viral on social media platforms.

The horrifying incident, captured on security camera footage, shows the young woman exercising near a row of treadmills before stumbling backward towards an open window behind her. Despite attempting to grasp the window frame, she fell to the ground below, according to the New York Post.

Emergency services rushed the woman to the hospital, but she succumbed to serious head injuries. An autopsy revealed extensive bruising and lacerations. Reports indicate she had been at the gym with her younger sibling and boyfriend.

According to some reports, the woman opted to use a treadmill on the top floor while her boyfriend suggested working out on the second floor. The accident occurred just 30 minutes into her workout session.

The Pontianak City Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit has launched an investigation into the incident. Authorities highlighted the hazardous proximity of the treadmill to the open window, suggesting it contributed to the tragedy.

The gym issued an apology to the family of the deceased and temporarily suspended operations for three days. The victim’s name has not been disclosed publicly but the tragic event has sparked concerns over safety measures at fitness facilities.
