Chicken Biryani is one of the most favourite dishes of many. Savoured for its taste and aromatic spices, chicken biryani is often served at family gatherings, celebrations, and restaurants. Different options are also available which include mutton, prawn, and fish. At times, individuals consume carbonated soft drinks like Thumbs Up, Coca-Cola, and Sprite to aid digestion after having biryani. It is believed that consuming these beverages after a heavy meal helps improve digestion. Experts, however, state that one must exert caution against consuming cold drinks post a heavy meal. They advise against drinking water immediately after eating as well. For easy digestion, it is recommended to give a time gap between meals and drinks.

Soft drinks contain carbon dioxide and high sugar content. Biryani, because of spices like cardamom, cloves, and cinnamon, is also acidic. Consuming both without maintaining a certain gap can increase acidity levels in the body.

Experts recommend avoiding cold drinks while consuming heavy foods which contain high sugar content. Carbonated beverages can cause bloating and digestive problems. Instead, it’s advised to wait for an hour after eating biryani before consuming non-carbonated drinks.

Buttermilk

Nannari sherbet is a hydrating and sweet drink. It is made from the bark of the Nannari tree. Popular in South India, especially during the hot summers, Nannari sherbet can be found in local restaurants and juice shops.
