The panel has sought suggestions, views, and ideas from students and parents to recommend reforms in the NTA examination process

On June 22, 2024, the Education Ministry constituted a high-level committee to look into the NTA examination process. The panel chaired by Dr. K. Radhakrishnan, Former Chairman of ISRO, has now sought suggestions, views, and ideas from stakeholders, particularly students and parents to recommend reforms in the agency’s examination process. The suggestions can be submitted between June 27 to July 7, 2024.

The suggestions have been sought by the Centre’s panel on:

— Reforms in the mechanism of the examination process,

— Improvement in data security protocols, and

— Structure and functioning of the National Testing Agency (NTA)

“Comprising members from government organizations, academia, and higher educational institutions, the committee aims to recommend reforms in the examination process, enhance data security protocols, and review the structure and operations of the National Testing Agency (NTA),” the Ministry of Education posted on X.

Nearly 24 lakh students had appeared for the NEET-UG 2024 undergraduate exam that was held on May 5. The results were scheduled to be released on June 14 but were declared ahead of schedule on June 4. Soon after the results were out, it was found NTA had awarded grace marks to more than 1,500 students which led to widespread protests and legal actions. Several students and parents claimed a question paper leak. A re-exam was held on June 23 by NTA for 1563 students of which 813 candidates appeared for it. The results will likely be released on June 30. Now, the CBI is investigating around six cases related to the NEET UG paper leak and has arrested two people from Bihar on Thursday. Furthermore, a school principal from Hazaribag is being questioned by CBI for the last 48 hours.
