Crooks, who had been identified as the shooter in the apparent assassination attempt of former President Trump was a 20-year-old boy from a Pittsburgh suburb

The young shooter, who attempted to assassinate former US President Donald Trump during an election rally in Pennsylvania, stored explosive devices in his car, authorizes said.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, the authorities investigating the shooting found explosives in the car of Thomas Matthew Crooks, the gunman who tried to shoot Trump.

The gun used by Crooks to allegedly assassinate the former President was purchased by his father, the publication further reported.

Meanwhile, his father, Matthew Crooks, told CNN late Saturday that he was trying to figure out “what the hell is going on” but wouldn’t speak about his son until after he talked to law enforcement.

Crooks, who had been identified as the shooter in the apparent assassination attempt of former President Trump was a 20-year-old boy from a Pittsburgh suburb not far from the campaign rally where one attendee was killed.

Investigators were working Sunday to gather more information about Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, who they say opened fire from a rooftop outside the rally venue in Butler. An FBI official said late Saturday that a motive had not yet been determined.

While Crooks’ political leanings were not immediately clear, records show Crooks was registered as a Republican voter in Pennsylvania, but federal campaign finance reports also show he gave $15 to a progressive political action committee on January 20, 2021, the day President Joe Biden was sworn into office.

Meanwhile, ex-US President Donald Trump on Sunday said that it was divine intervention that helped him survive an assassination attempt during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.

Urging fellow Americans to unite in ‘not allowing Evil to Win’, he said, “It was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening.”
